2027 Airstream Lineup

What's New in San Diego's 2027 Airstream Lineup

Coast, mountain, and desert all within reach of San Marcos, and this year's Airstream lineup is built for all three.

Airstream's 2027 changes cover a lot of ground this year. There are three new floor plans, a full décor refresh for Flying Cloud, faster water heaters for some models, and smarter climate control spread across much of the rest of the 2027 lineup. Airstream of San Diego, based in San Marcos, already carries a wide selection of these updated models.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which is a two-hour drive east from our San Diego lot, gets hot enough that this year's climate control and water system updates are extremely relevant.

Here's what's changed model by model, and how each update plays out depending on where in the North County you're headed, from Carlsbad and the coast to Palomar Mountain, which gets cold enough up there for snow some winters.

The New World Traveler 17RB Lands at Airstream of San Diego

World Traveler's addition for 2027 is the 17RB, a shorter, lighter sibling to the 22RB built for towing simplicity rather than maximum interior space. It's sized for something like a weekend at Carlsbad, not a cross-country trip.

The interior carries over the 22RB's bright white color scheme, offered in two cushion options. Weight savings come from swapping the larger panoramic and door windows for dual-pane acrylic and from moving the climate system off the roof and under the bench seat instead. A rearview camera and bedding kit are standard features, and solar, lithium power, and a microwave are available for anyone who wants to camp further from a hookup than this floor plan is built around by default.

For someone buying their first Airstream or towing with something short of a full-size truck, the 17RB is the lowest-friction way into the 2027 Airstream lineup.

Trade Wind 27FB: Built for Off-Grid Trips Near San Diego

The 27FB is Trade Wind's new floor plan in the 2027 Airstream lineup. It's a front-bedroom layout with sleeping space for five. The more significant change, though, is the battery underneath it.

Airstream and Harbinger co-developed an 18.5-kWh system for this floor plan, the largest battery capacity ever installed in an Airstream travel trailer. That's paired with 600 watts of solar and an inverter capable of running two air conditioners without needing shore power. The floor plan debuted publicly at the Florida RV SuperShow in January 2026 and is available on lots in San Diego.

Its capacity matters most out past Palomar, deeper into the Cleveland National Forest or the far side of Anza-Borrego, where hookups thin out and temperature swings between day and night get extreme. The 27FB also carries Trade Wind's recirculating water heater, so hot water reaches the tap immediately instead of running cold down the drain first.

In desert heat specifically, that upgrade solves the problem of standing at the tap, already hot and dusty, waiting on water that's slow to catch up.

Rangeline 21PL: A New Touring Coach at Airstream of San Diego

Rangeline's touring coach lineup grows by one floor plan this year with the addition of the 21PL. Its Smartbench rides on an L-track system that shifts between passenger seating, a full lounge, or an open cargo bay. This feature is very useful if a trip to Carlsbad one weekend turns into a gear hauling run out to Palomar the next.

Four people can sleep in the 21PL without a pop-top roof, as it has a powered loft bed that lowers down over the reconfigured lower bench. Both the 21PL and 21PS, the other option in the lineup, pick up two new colors this year: Lunar Gray and Onyx Black. The whole coach runs on a single-fuel system, meaning the generator and climate control draw from the same gas tank as the Ram ProMaster chassis rather than needing separate propane.

If off-grid range matters more to you than towing does, put this option next to a Trade Wind before deciding. Both go the same distance from civilization; this one just does it without anything hitched behind it.

Flying Cloud Gets a New Look in San Diego

In 2027, the Flying Cloud gets two important additions. The first is the debut of new colors on the outside of the cabinets, and the second is a new water heater on the inside of the walls.

Starting with the color changes, Willow Green and Canvas Cream are now available. They offer a light wood-grain laminate with solid-color fronts, replacing what was there before. The water heater is a recirculating system, also featured in 2027 Trade Wind models. Now, coming back from a Palomar hike no longer means standing at the tap waiting for hot water to show up.

What Changed for International in San Diego

Nothing about International's floor plans changes in 2027. The plumbing does, though. A recirculating water heater, identical to the one Flying Cloud gets, replaces what was there previously, cutting down both the wait for hot water and the propane burned getting there.

A second, more visible update lands here too. International picks up the new marker lights rolling out across Airstream's traditional aluminum trailers this year, giving the exterior a slightly more refined look.

Atlas Adds More Room at Airstream of San Diego

Tow capacity is the headline change for the Atlas 25MS in 2027. Its tow capacity is 5,000 pounds, and it's backed by a hitch rating of up to 500 pounds, which opens the door to hauling a boat or a gear trailer without a second thought.

The whole Atlas line picks up larger pedestal tables too, and the 25RT specifically adds a belted jump seat behind the driver. The inclusion of the jump seat means there's room for three riders instead of two, although the sleeping capacity remains unchanged.

Atlas also moves to a new color scheme in 2027, Stonehaven, which replaces the older Modern Greige option. The 25RT alone has four total options. They are all worth seeing in person at Airstream of San Diego if you're still weighing a touring coach against a travel trailer.

Interstate 24GT Gets a Redesigned Door and Step in San Diego

Among everything new for 2027, the Interstate 24GT's update is certainly worth talking about. Out goes the old screen door design, replaced by a pleated pass-through unit with an opening that's four inches wider and no long brush seal to deal with anymore. The material itself holds up better against pets and general wear.

The stepwell also got a facelift. Its width grows by two inches, and the old wood closeout gets swapped for a real kickplate. Plus, the factory Mercedes light means you're not fumbling in the dark to find your footing.

Basecamp's Heat Pump Is Built for North County Camping

Basecamp trades its old AC setup for a heat pump in 2027. One unit does both the cooling and heating, with Airstream citing better overall efficiency than before. That efficiency shows up mostly on the heating side, though, which is something to keep in mind.

Neither a heat pump nor a standard AC unit runs on nothing, off-grid or plugged in. They both draw power to operate. The difference shows up on a cold night, when the heat pump can reverse direction and warm the cabin using electricity, sparing the propane tank entirely. That's the scenario that plays out up at Palomar, where the coast stays mild, but the elevation brings a real chill after dark. Once it gets cold enough, the furnace still wins out, but for a typical cool mountain evening, the heat pump handles it alone.

More Updates Across the Lineup in San Diego

Globetrotter, Caravel, Classic, and Bambi all get new marker lights this year, which is part of a refined-look update touching every traditional aluminum model in the 2027 Airstream lineup. None of them change shape.

Select models also add wireless charging built into the nightstand, which is designed to make your trips easier. Separately, Airstream retired the Basecamp 16 as of June 2026, narrowing that lineup to focus on its newer floor plans and technology.

A wide slice of the 2027 Airstream lineup is already on the lot at Airstream of San Diego. Whatever's pulling you toward an Airstream this year, whether that's a weekend at Carlsbad, a longer trip out toward Anza-Borrego, or a first camping trip in a new trailer, there's a reasonable chance it's already here.

Our dealership is at 251 Travelers Way. Inventory shifts by the day, so if there's a specific color or floor plan you're set on, a quick call first can save you a wasted trip.

Otherwise, this is the kind of model year that's better seen than described. Come by, and someone at Airstream of San Diego can show you what's on the ground and point you toward the one that fits how you like to camp.
